A Change of Season

Cooler temperatures today. What a joy to have a break from the heat. Plants and animals all seem to be more vibrant, alive. I hear the crickets chirping. They will make for good nutrition for the turkeys. As you know, we move the turkeys each day, and now they are close to our house. I remember last year when the turkeys were close by. Every time Jim would hammer on the house and pause, they would answer. They also come to greet me at the fence.

We are getting down to the days of last things. Last chicken selling day in Rolla on October 13, last for the farm on October 26, last for Springfield on November 3. But then we are gearing up for turkey days. Processing and delivering the turkeys is hard work, but it is a good thing. People are mostly able to get together easier this year, so we are hoping all of you are able to gather with friends and/or family to celebrate all that we have to be grateful for.

And, speaking of last things, we have one kitten who needs a home. She is friendly, trained by her mom to be a hunter, accustomed to dogs who are kind, box trained yet used to living outdoors. She needs a loving family.
